Mt Eliza Landfill Capping

Earthworks

The Mount Eliza Landfill Rehabilitation project is a major environmental initiative aimed at restoring and stabilising a former landfill site. The works are designed to meet EPA requirements and ensure long-term safety, sustainability, and integration with the surrounding landscape.

Maw Civil delivered site preparation works including subgrade excavation and grading, followed by installation of a geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) and imported capping material to meet EPA design standards. The process involved constructing the subbase, laying the GCL, and placing and leveling imported materials in layers to achieve specified cover depths, with rigorous testing (every 5,000m³) to ensure compliance. Final works included landscaping and hydro-seeding to complete the project.
